About

Launched in 2004, then again in 2006 and 2009 – darwinshome started as static website showcasing my development skills gained during my university studies.

As the internet and World Wide Web grew and changed over the years, so did my personal website.

The name darwinshome originated from an interest in the Theory of Evolution proposed by Charles Darwin. My usage of his name highlighting the continuously changing and evolving internet. The second part highlighting my domicile on the internet, my online home.

Over the years since my original 2004 website, I have changed careers and interest, and with these life changes, so has my website (now blog) changed to meet my current requirements.

I am Michael Grove, currently a senior data engineer and consultant specializing in the Microsoft and Azure data stacks.

darwinshome serves as the personal writing and general ramblings space, with content covering multiple areas from personal musings on health, fitness, running, overlanding, hiking and other hobbies. Content that will provide some interest to my family and friends if they pass by.

The blog also includes posts on data analytics, application development and other slightly more ‘work’ focused topics. I hope this content will provide readers with a solution or route to a solution for any problems that they could be having in the area that each post covers.

[Update 2024-02-26] The darwinshome website is a result of its own organic growth (and neglect) over the past 20 years – This year has provided me with some time to focus on resolving some stagnation that has occurred.

I welcome you to a small snippet of my messy mind.
